Build Awareness, Create Change

Imagine: You can help women win life-saving victories against chronic hunger and build healthy futures for their families. It's possible when you become a Freedom from Hunger volunteer.

The Grassroots Approach

If you are looking for a more unique and non-traditional way to help build awareness and support for Freedom from Hunger, we encourage you to try one or all of these activities. Each will help you connect the people in your community to a global community fighting to end chronic hunger.

Inspired? Want to start making a difference today? Sign up using our application form. You will also need to sign and return our event guidelines (PDF), and you'll be on your way.

Outdoor Adventures

Love the outdoors? Grab a group of friends and plan a backpacking trip, a bike trip, or a kayaking adventure to support Freedom from Hunger. Collect commitments from family, friends, and local businesses to sponsor every mile you travel. Freedom from Hunger will help you get started with the following:

  • Access to create your own adventure website
  • Donation pledge forms
  • Pre-, during, and post-event checklists

Dine to Make a Difference

Invite local restaurants to participate in one night of fundraising for Freedom from Hunger. Select a weeknight. Ask restaurants to donate 15% of their proceeds or more that night. Offer to heavily market the restaurants to help them get people through the doors. During the evening, also ask the restaurants to set up table tents with further information about our organization. We can provide:

  • Assistance marketing to local media
  • Event check-list
  • Pre-, during, and post-event checklists

Alternative Gift Giving

Looking for a new way to give back during the holidays? A church in California came up with an innovative way to provide this service in their community and aid Freedom from Hunger at the same time. In early December, the church organized a selection of booths with information about various nonprofits, where individuals could make on-the-spot donations in lieu of buying material objects as gifts.

Why not organize something like this in your own church, community center or local school. Interested? Freedom from Hunger can get you started, learn more
