What is the relationship between Freedom from Hunger and Grameen Foundation now that you’ve integrated?
Freedom from Hunger is an independent affiliate of Grameen Foundation. When our two organizations joined forces in October 2016, core operating functions, programs and staff of Freedom from Hunger were integrated into Grameen Foundation. At the same time, Freedom from Hunger continues operating as a charitable organization and independent affiliate of Grameen Foundation, guiding projects across the world to give women the tools they need to end poverty and hunger for themselves and their families.
What will happen to my bequest to FFH, and how will it be used?
Your bequest will be received by Freedom from Hunger and used to help achieve the mission that inspired your gift – to enable the poor, especially women, to create a world without hunger and poverty. You need do nothing to alter your bequest or other planned gift if one is already designated for Freedom from Hunger. Freedom from Hunger is named as a beneficiary on my pension plan.
Do I have to change the beneficiary to Grameen Foundation now that you’ve merged?
No. You don’t have to change the beneficiary. Freedom from Hunger remains an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization that accepts tax-deductible gifts.
Will you be able to cash a check made out to Freedom from Hunger?
Yes, we are able to receive and cash checks made out to Freedom from Hunger, for either bequests or donations. We (Freedom from Hunger) remain an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization that accepts tax-deductible gifts on behalf of Grameen Foundation.
